Writing for Search Engine Optimization

computer-writing.jpgFirst and foremost it is a writer’s responsibility to herself and her readers to write well informed, helpful, grammatically correct, factual posts to the best of her ability. However, there is no shame in admitting that you write keyword articles for search engine optimization. Yes, it’s true some people should be ashamed of writing posts with no substance yet containing keywords in order to grab the attention of internet users. However, we are not them.

Let’s start out with the meaning of Keywords. They are the words or phrases most often used by people when searching for the subject matter you are writing about. The use of these keywords is called search engine optimization. By using the particular words or phrases you are more likely to be at the higher end of the search engine list of articles for your particular subject matter.

However, there is a line that can be crossed. After much searching for the answer of how much is too much and how much is not enough, I believed the formula to be: use the highest ranked word or phrase (keyword) in the title, once in the first paragraph, once in the final paragraph and three times in the body of your article. The keyword phrase that I’ve used in this article is “search engine optimization.” This is called keyword density. If you think about it that just sounds like good writing anyway.

Although I am sure there are numerous sites in which to find keywords, I use Google Adwords Keywords Tool. It is easy to use and processes quickly. I’ll have to admit that I don’t always check on keywords for posts I write, I do use this site quite often to create articles for search engine optimization.
