Shopping at the Thrift Store
Slightly used, gently used, second-hand and resale, there are many ways to label thrift store or consignment store clothing. With the change in economy more people are not only trying to get some cash for items they no longer use, but more people are shopping at these same shops looking for deals. In addition, shopping for clothing and other items previously used is an easy-to-do “green” choice.
What if you find a great piece of clothing, wonderfully expensive fabric, but it’s out of style or isn’t your size. Nearly half a century ago, my mother would shop for such items. She would bring them home, take them apart with a seam-ripper, rewash and press the fabric, then make something completely different out of it for one of us kids. It felt like a new piece of clothing and that went a long way for the first day of school when everyone else had new outfits on. She did it out of necessity as we may need to start doing as well.
You can get out your phone book and look for consignment shops, thrift stores or Good Will stores in your location. However, online there is also eBay and other auction type sites for selling or buying resale clothing. Other online sites include:
