Does “Sex” Sell?
Yesterday I wrote a piece on improving hits to my post. I wondered how people got hundreds even thousands of hits each day. I went to their posts, but really couldn’t find anything content wise that would make a difference. I decided to investigate word content and searched for the words most often put into search engines.
I named a few, of course, “sex” was at the top of the list with phrases using the word “sex” in close succession.
Well, yesterday my hits numbered 17. No increase what so ever. Yet, those were my “unique hits” and my regular hits were over 100. That is the first time that’s happened. But, who cares, since Today.com only pays for unique hits. I don’t even know the difference between the two. I’ll guess that the unique hits are the first hit and if the person clicks on any other articles you’ve written, they don’t pay for those.
Okay, so it may not be word content, but I’m trying this for one more day to see if using the word “sex” and spreading it around the post makes a difference. I figure if the words within the post are what makes the hits so high, I could write my post, as I want, and then find a way to incorporate words that are high on the search list. It wouldn’t have to be “sex” but there must be other terms used that are, well, more usable.
If this doesn’t make a difference, I’m not sure what my next move will be, but I will keep searching to learn the secrets of those that get so many hits even when they aren’t using the word, “sex.”
