Palin and Global Warming

Published by kyellis at 10:13 am under News Edit This

Did Sarah Palin go to Republican “Tell Them What They Want To Hear” School? Adverse to her previous stance that humans aren’t causing global warming, now she tells us she believes people do play a part in our climate changes. Go figure.

Although she attests she never said there was absolute proof that man had no effect on climate changes, her exact words were, “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. … I’m not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made.”

During this last year, Sarah Palin said in a Fairbanks newspaper interview, “I’m not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist blaming the changes in our climate on human activity.” ABC cited the interview as being at odds with her statement.”

You have to wonder if this new rhetoric Palin is spouting is in order to match her “beliefs” with John McCain’s beliefs. McCain has on numerous occasions relayed the belief that humans have caused climate changes.

An ABC interview sites her as saying, “…man’s activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming, climate change. … Regardless, though, of the reason for climate change, whether it’s entirely, wholly caused by man’s activities or is part of the cyclical nature of our planet - the warming and the cooling trends - regardless of that, John McCain and I agree that we gotta do something about it.”

We will have to continue to watch Sarah Palin and see how many more of her statements will need to be overrun by new ones that match up with the McCain “running for president rhetoric.” McCain has already noted he and his administration are for “change,” when he previously voted 90% matching President Bush. Not much change there. I think if he and Palin are voted into office we will see more of the same, not much change. Can we afford that?

It seems Palin does fit in well with the Republican Party heads. Tell them something enough times and eventually they will believe it. Well, we are not all dopes out here. We have brains of our own and you are not smarter than us. We, as citizens of this great country can see you for what you are and, come November, we will make our choice accordingly.

Note: As I watched the Republican Convention, although I have to admit I watched less than the Democratic Convention, I noticed there were only “white” faces in the group. I think I noticed this so readily because of the many different colors and races represented in the Democratic Convention. I then noticed as Palin was giving her speech and John McCain stood beside her (but back slightly) that there was one African American man sitting three rows back directly and could be seen directly between McCain and Palin. At first I said to myself, “Oh, there is one non-white at this convention.” Then, I had to wonder if the one they found was put in that particular position on purpose. If not, it was terribly coincidental.
