Cherry Taffy

This is a fun project for a girls sleep over.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups white sugar
2 ½ tablespoons corn starch
1 cup light corn syrup
1 1/3 cups water
2 ½ tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon salt
1 - .13 oz package unsweetened cherry drink mix

Directions

Grease 2 cookie sheets.

In a sauce pan, combine the sugar and corn starch. Stir in the corn syrup, water, butter and salt. On a medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil. Cook until your candy thermometer reads 250 degrees F. Take the sauce pan off of the burner and add the cherry drink mix. Divide into two parts and lay each on a cookie sheet. Wait until the candy is cool enough to handle, but not completely cool or it will harden.
Pull the taffy until it lightens in color. This is best done with four people, two to a half.
Pull small pieces, roll and wrap in squares of wax paper.

Variations: Use any flavor drink mix to make different taffy flavors.
