Camping Omelet
Camping Omelet
These are great at home too. Try them when you have a big crowd for breakfast - Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
Suggested Ingredients (per omelet)
2 eggs
1 slice bacon, crumbled
1 tablespoon onion, chopped
2 tablespoons bell pepper, chopped
2 tablespoon chopped tomato
¼ cup potatoes, precooked
¼ cup cheddar cheese
1 freezer ziplock bag
Directions
Crack the eggs into the ziplock bag. Push as much air as possible out of the bag and seal it. Now, squeeze and shake to beat the eggs. Open the bag and add the rest of the ingredients and reseal, taking out as much air as you can.
Put a large pot on the stove to boil. Put a plastic strainer into the pot, this will keep the ziplock bag from hitting the sides of the hot pot ant melting. Put the bag into the boiling water and cook for 13 minutes. Take the ziplock bag from the boiling water, open and roll out onto a plate. Serve with prepared bread and fruit.
Note: During camping you can have prepared sealed containers full of omelet fixings. Let each person write their name on the ziplock bag with a permanent marker. Let each person make their own omelet with what ever ingredients they wish. Then when the bags are pulled from the water, you will know who each omelet belongs to. Everyone gets to eat together.
