Easy French Apple Pie

Ingredients

5 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¾ cup white sugar
¾ cup milk
2 eggs
3 tablespoons butter, softened
½ cup biscuit mix
1 cup biscuit mix
¾ cup pecans, chopped
½ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter, softened

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, combine the apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and mix. Pour into a greased 10 inch pie pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine the white sugar, milk, eggs and butter, mix. Pour in the ½ cup biscuit mix and mix thoroughly. Pour over apple mixture in the pie pan.
In a mixing bowl, making the streusel topping, combine the 1 cup biscuit mix, pecans, brown sugar and butter. Sprinkle the topping over the pie.
Place the pie pan on top of a cookie sheet to catch any overflow while cooking. Bake in the oven for 55 to 60 minutes or when knife inserted in center of pie comes out clean. Serves 10. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Variation: I haven’t tried it, but it seems this recipe could be make with canned apple pie filling to make it even easier. I’d love to hear if someone tries that and how it turns out. Enjoy.
